Sawant commands first District 3 candidate forum – Other candidates find it difficult to find their voice

simply by Mike Andrew – SGN Employees Writer Incumbent City Council member Kshama Sawant commanded the phase at the first candidate forum within the District 3 City Council competition on May 12. The new District 3 takes in Capitol Hill, the Central District, Leschi, Madrona, Madison Park, and Montlake neighborhoods. In her opening speech Sawant threw down the gauntlet for the evening, taking credit pertaining to Seattle’s $15 per hour minimum income, for voting down massive lease hikes at Seattle Housing Expert properties, and for a City Authorities resolution opposing Arctic oil going.
