Downright calls on Exxon, BP, plus Shell to stand up for persecuted Gay men in Chechnya

OutRight Action International is asking British Petroleum, Exxon Mobil, plus Royal Dutch Shell to take the stand against the kidnapping, detention, torture, and murder of Gay men in Chechnya. All three businesses have considerable investment and relationships with state-owned oil and gas companies within Russia, with ventures worth numerous billions of dollars. Jessica Stern, Professional Director of OutRight Action International, urges the major oil companies to take a stand and said, ‘This is one of the worst homophobic campaigns the entire world has ever seen. If Russian federation will not listen to other governments or use the United Nations, it is time to see if we can get money to talk in a language that they will listen to.
